Flex 4.0

Flash And The City will have five workshops on Thursday, May 13 (the day before the conference officially kicks off). You’ll definitely want to come to Flash and the City a little early to be a part of the pre-conference tracks.

Duane Nickull and Kevin Schmidt will give you hands on Flex 4 coding.  Session has been put together to provide

developers with a boot camp to learn all the basics of Adobe Flex and AIR development in one day. The overall goal is to provide the tools and code samples so attendees can pursue FLex/AIR development in the future plus to help developers understand the changes in Flex 4 architecture. The course is broken into several “hands on” style coding exercises, each demonstrating 3-5 key concepts. Attendees will bring and use their own computers.  Afterwards, they will leave with all the code samples and various projects set up on your own laptop for future reference.

The entire day will be run in a code camp style, each lab being chosen by participants. The presenters will come prepared to teach over 30 modules including topics such as Web Services, REST style data paging, Flash
Remoting, 3D effects, working with the Datagrid, the new Flex 4 graphics packages (Spark), video, XML, graphs, integration with Java , saving data to a hard drive, storing data locally in AIR’s SQLite database and much more.

All attendees will receive a preparation guide to help them get set up with the correct software prior to the event itself. Upon leaving, each attendee will receive all the completed code and materials to re-use as reference material. Demo software will be provided for download prior to the event
and resources for further learning will be shown at the end of the day.

The course may be taken by absolute beginners and can be easily completed by those who have not programmed before.

A ticket for the workshop will gain you access to the following five workshops:

9:00am – 4:00pm

4:00pm – 5:00pm

  • FREE FDT Training – “Developing Flash and Flex Applications with FDT”
