Thinking in ActionScript
It’s one thing to know rules and definitions for a language, it’s another thing entirely to feel comfortable enough to think in that language (and well enough to effectively express yourself).
While you may never speak ActionScript like it was your first language, this session presents visual and conceptual models that can help you understand programming generally and ActionScript specifically. Every thing shown will be supplemented with related code samples so as not to be too wishy-washy with practical details.
You’ll walk away with clear (and, possibly, new and unique) ways to think about:
- Properties
- Methods
- data types
- Classes
- Object Oriented Programming
Additional special guests appearing may include:
variables, if-statement, loops, arrays, and value objects.
Everyone is welcome in this session. However, in case this description sounds too “beginner”, it’s worth noting that I am targeting folks with at least moderate ActionScript familiarity. It’s always possible to add to your understanding of any topic so, unless you feel totally solid on all the concepts listed above, don’t be afraid this session is too basic for you. If, however, you don’t know any ActionScript you can still benefit from the conceptual models presented.
